About Us

Living in Harmony With Nature

Every being has a story. Every connection has a purpose.

In Harmony With Nature Wolf Sanctuary began in 2007 as a small refuge for dogs and wolf-dogs in need. What started as a mission to rescue soon evolved into a sanctuary devoted to the healing bond between animals, people, and the natural world.

Over the past two decades, IHWN has helped rehome more than 600 animals and created a permanent home for captive bred wolves and wolf-dogs who cannot live in traditional homes. Our philosophy is simple: when humans, animals, and the land are treated with respect and awareness, healing naturally unfolds.

At IHWN, every animal is a teacher. Every volunteer becomes part of the pack.

Our Mission

To promote awareness, understanding, and respect for the natural world through compassionate rescue, education, and nature-based healing.
We strive to create balance between humans and animals, modeling a way of living that honors instinct, coexistence, and connection.

Our Philosophy

We believe that harmony with nature begins within.
Through our programs and daily work, we foster sustainability, connection, and biodiversity on the land we care for. The sanctuary is home to a thriving ecosystem of plants, animals, and microorganisms, all interacting as part of the same living web.

Our wolves and wolf-dogs remind us daily: healing is not about control; it’s about balance.

Kim Kapes

Founder & Director

With a background in psychology, martial arts,  firefighting, and exotic animal care, Kim built the sanctuary on the belief that nature offers profound lessons in resilience and interconnection. Her intuitive understanding of animal behavior and human emotion has guided IHWN’s growth into a trusted refuge for both species.

Get Involved

Together with our core team of volunteers, and the wolves who choose to share their presence, we continue to live our mission every day.
